Bangladesh Nationalist Chhatra Dal has condemned and protested the circular issued requesting not to hold Iftar Mahfils on the campuses of two universities.

On Tuesday (March 12), this information was given in a statement signed by the party’s office secretary Md. Jahangir Alam on behalf of Chhatra Dal President Rakibul Islam Rakib and General Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir.

They said that the Tabedar government and its obedient university administration are involved in a conspiracy to destroy religious harmony in the educational institutions. The lower and middle class people are disoriented and angry due to the unbridled rise in prices due to the violence of the government-blessed business syndicate during the holy month of Ramadan. In this situation, the illegal government is deliberately attacking religious harmony in the country to divert the attention of the common people and give these oligarchs an opportunity to loot freely.

He further said that the recent ban on beef in university halls during Sehri, the illegal education minister’s anti-madrasa education statements, all these are part of their pre-planned actions. The students should be alert about such tricks of the illegal government.

The leaders also said that Iftar Mahfil during the holy month of Ramadan is an important part of our social culture. Its social appeal is very strong. Planned obstruction of Iftar Mahfil is tantamount to robbing Muslims of their freedom to practice their religion. We request all school-college and university administrations in the country not to take such a bold and anti-people decision.
