Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, advisor to the Ministry of Local Government and Youth and Sports of the interim government, said, ‘Seventy-one gave birth to this country and we achieved an independence, a bloody independence. But in the past 16 years, fascism, the concept of this independence, has destroyed it.’
Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan said these things while talking to journalists at the National Memorial in Savar on Wednesday morning to pay tribute to the martyrs on the occasion of the great Independence and National Day. Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan said, ‘We believe that until every citizen of the country thinks that he is free, that he has freedom of speech, freedom of expression, there is no point in the territory being independent. We think that the 24th has protected that independence.’
This advisor to the interim government also said that the 24th is one of the stages of the difficult fight to protect the independence achieved in 1971 through another bloody mass uprising. This independence will remain in Bangladesh in the coming days and the people of this country will never again feel subjugated in an independent land.
