Recently, social media is flooded with various messages about earning money from home online. Such messages are often seen especially on Telegram. And the Cyber Crime Investigation Division (CTTC) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has called this whole matter a hoax.

CTTC said that tempting advertisements like earning money from home are often seen on Facebook or WhatsApp. If someone is lured by these advertisements and contacts this fraudulent group, they initially ask them to like various videos on YouTube. They pay 100 taka for each video like. This is basically a fraud trap.
To fall into the trap of earning money by liking videos from home, arrangements are made to earn 500 to 1,000 taka in the beginning. This is mainly done by the fraudulent group to gain their trust. Later, the customer is added to a group called Helpdex on Telegram. Through this Helpdex, various investments are tempted.

Stating that anyone who steps into these investments that promise high profits in a short time has fallen into the trap, CTTC said, “They extort millions of taka from customers by showing them temptation. Customers also invest with a simple mind because they get money in the beginning. But after losing everything, they realize what a mistake they have made.”
