Fasting is an important obligatory act of Islam. Fasting is obligatory upon every Muslim after faith and prayer. Hazrat Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said, I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say, ‘Islam is built on five things: testifying that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) is the Messenger of Allah; establishing prayer; paying zakat; performing Hajj and fasting Ramadan.’ (Sahih Bukhari, Hadith 8)
Whoever intentionally breaks even one fast without a legitimate reason is a major sinner. And he will be severely punished in the Hereafter. In a hadith about this, Hazrat Abu Umama Bahili (may Allah be pleased with him) said—
I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) say, I was sleeping. At that time, two men came and took me by the arms to a remote mountain. They took me there and said, “Climb the mountain.” I said, “I cannot do that.” They said, "We will make it easy for you." After receiving their assurance, I started to climb and reached the top of the mountain. There was a loud scream. I asked, "What is that sound?" They said, "
It is the scream of the people of Hell." Then they took me to some people who were tied up by their ankles and hanging. Their cheeks were torn and blood was flowing from them. I asked, "Who are these?" They said, "These are fasting people who used to break their fast before completing their fast." (Sahih Ibn Hibban, Hadith, 7491)
Therefore, the fast cannot be broken without a reason that is in accordance with the Sharia. Many people have doubts about the reasons for breaking the fast. Many people wonder whether taking an injection will break the fast. In this regard, according to Islamic law and jurists, it is possible to take a simple injection if necessary while fasting and it does not harm the fast.
According to them, taking an injection for any reason other than increasing physical strength does not invalidate the fast. Whether it is injected into the flesh or into a vein. This is because the medicine that is injected into the body is injected through the flesh or vein, which is an unusual entry point, so it is not an acceptable reason to break the fast.
However, it is makruh to take glucose-like injections that meet the nutritional needs while fasting.
